Easy Cottage/Shepards Pie


1lb ground beef
1/2 cup diced onions
2 tbls flour
1.5 cups stock
12 oz frozen mixed vegetables
16 oz prepared mashed potatoes
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Brown ground beef
  3. Add onion and continue cooking until onions are translucent
  4. Sprinkle with the flour and cook for 2-3 minutes to get rid of “flour” taste
  5. Add stock stirring until sauce forms and starts to thicken up.
  6. Add worcestershire sauce and salt/pepper
  7. Add mixed vegetables
  8. Cook until sauce starts to thicken up and vegetables are no longer frozen
  9. Put meat mixture into a 9" pie plate and cover with mashed potatoes
  10. Bake for 20-30 minutes until potatoes start to brown and mixture is bubbly

The whole thing can be done in a cast iron skillet making it a ‘one-pan-dish’
