Easy Cottage/Shepards Pie
1lb ground beef
1/2 cup diced onions
2 tbls flour
1.5 cups stock
12 oz frozen mixed vegetables
16 oz prepared mashed potatoes
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Brown ground beef
- Add onion and continue cooking until onions are translucent
- Sprinkle with the flour and cook for 2-3 minutes to get rid of “flour” taste
- Add stock stirring until sauce forms and starts to thicken up.
- Add worcestershire sauce and salt/pepper
- Add mixed vegetables
- Cook until sauce starts to thicken up and vegetables are no longer frozen
- Put meat mixture into a 9" pie plate and cover with mashed potatoes
- Bake for 20-30 minutes until potatoes start to brown and mixture is bubbly
The whole thing can be done in a cast iron skillet making it a ‘one-pan-dish’
